Colette Pope Heldner

Colette Pope Heldner studied at the Duluth Academy of Fine Art in Minnesota, where she met and later married one of her instructors, Knute Heldner.  She continued to produce artwork throughout her life.  With her husband, they divided their time between Duluth and the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana.  They had an affection for both cities and the cities were often the subjects of their artwork.  Both Heldners were part of an informal group of artists in New Orleans.  The Heldners are credited for introducing the writer Tennessee Williams to the French Quarter.
