David Knowlton

David Knowlton is a Wisconsin native who studied painting at the University of
Wisconsin before moving to Santa Fe where he lived and painted for fifteen years.  He has since returned to Wisconsin and lives South of Eau Claire.
Knowlton’s paintings have always reflected his surroundings and interest in
architecture.  Many of Southwestern and Midwestern landscapes depict bridges and trains. Others integrate the patterns of nature with images woven into Navajo blankets and sewn into Amish Quilts.  His most recent work is inspired by the rural architecture of Western Wisconsin.  In addition to his paintings on canvas, Knowlton has designed and painted sets for the theater and murals for homes and businesses.  He has exhibited in galleries in Santa Fe, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Aspen, New York, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis.
