Edwin Dawes (1872-1945) Edwin Dawes was primarily a self taught landscape painter who traveled the United States exstensively. Dawes was born on April 2, 1872 in Boone, Iowa. He painted and exhibited in the Midwest until he left Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1913 for the western United States. In the latter part of his life he lived and worked in Nevada and California, where he was respresented by the Ackerman Gallery in Los Angeles.
